Andrew Weatherspoon, Sr. Was born on August 19, 1934, to the late Richard and Nettie Weatherspoon. He answered his Master’s call on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
Andrew was raised in the Richbay Community in a loving and Christian home and attended the Gadsden County Public School system. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Pine Top (Hopewell) AME Church. He served faithfully in several leadership roles within the church, including Sunday School Superintendent, President of the Usher Board, Steward,and President of the Sons of Allen. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge #109. He was an avid fisherman and loved sharing stories of faith and family with all who would listen. Andrew’s faith in God and his love of people made him a friend to everyone that met him.
Andrew leaves to cherish his precious memories two sons, Andrew Weatherspoon, Jr , Tallahassee, Florida, Jimmy Weatherspoon (Margaret), Indianapolis, Indiana, daughter, Gloria Jean Thomas, Havana, Florida; sister, Lillie Johnson, Havana, Florida; daughter-in-law, Gerry Weatherspoon, Havana, Florida; 3 sisters-in-law, Hazel Stephens, Quincy, Florida, Margaret Herring and Hattie Cogman (Billy)of Havana, Florida; 3 brothers-in-law, Robert McGriff (Beverly), Tampa, Florida, Sylvester McGriff, Havana, Florida and Walter Brady, Tallahassee, Florida; 10grandchildren, 2 of which he raised as his own, Samuel Maine and Andrea Weatherspoon; 12 great grandchildren, and a host of great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends, all of whom he loved dearly.
Andrew is now reunited with his wife of 74 years, Kelsie Weatherspoon, and three sons, Willie, Leonard,and Tommy Weatherspoon.
