Charles Hubert Forehand, Sr. of Quincy, Florida made his heavenly journey on Sunday, January 19, 2020. Charles was born February 15, 1935 to Calvin and Ella Mae Forehand (both deceased). He was a lifelong resident of Gadsden County, Florida, with the exception of his military service (U. S. Air Force, 1954-1957).
Charles humbly gave his life to Christ in 2004 and was accepted for membership at the 1200 Church, formerly known as the Capital City Church of Christ. Charles remained a faithful, active member until his illness prevented his participation.
After being honorably discharged from the military, Charles was employed for 14 years as a forestry technician in an experimental forest for International Paper Company. His ability to grasp complex scientific concepts resulted in a full scholarship offer from his employer to study forestry science at The University of North Carolina; an offer he chose not to pursue. He retired from the Florida State Hospital in 1997, after 24 years of service.
Charles was married to his devoted wife, Franceslon, for 59 years. This union produced a son, Charles Jr. (Cheryl ) of Randallstown, Maryland and two daughters, Carla and Caron, both of Quincy, Florida. Charles was also the father of Audwin Dale Screen (Beauti) of Germany.
Charles and Franceslon were blessed with 5 grandchildren; Ahmed (Orlando, Florida); Jazmyn, Deja and Timothy, all of Tallahassee; Brooke (Tampa, Florida). Charles also enjoyed his great grands- Yve (Tampa, Fl) and Ahmed Jr. (Tallahassee).
Charles was preceded in death by 4 of his 5 brothers ( James,Calvin, John and Corry) and 2 of his 5 sisters (Pauline Jordan and Barbara Adams). He is survived by his younger brother, Benny, and 3 sisters; Sylvia Byrd, EllaWhite and Lynn Brown (Wiley). He also leaves behind 3 sisters- in- law; Cleatis Parker, Willie Jo Bennett and Josephine Forehand; as well as 3 brothers -in-law ; Jimmy Williams, Junice Wright and Michael Williams (Carl Ann). A host of nieces and nephews too numerous to name, will also miss “Uncle Charles” aka “Uncle Hubert”.
Charles’s heart for his family was reflected in his many acts of kindness for his children and grandchildren, as well as other family members and friends. Charles never forgot his wife’s birthday, Valentine’s Day or their wedding anniversary.
Charles was well known for his humor, intellect, cooking and horticultural skills. He also enjoyed “favorite” uncle status among many of his nieces and nephews. He loved flowers, fruit trees, books, fresh vegetables and fishing.
