The Reverend Dr. Robert L. Peoples was born in Quincy, Florida on June 13, 1951 to the late Thelma Ford Robinson and Freddie Lee Peoples. He departed this life at home on his 71st birthday, June 13, 2022.
Dr. Peoples was a 1969 honor graduate of Carter-Parramore High School in Quincy, Florida. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Lane College, Jackson, Tennessee in the field of Mathematics, a Master’s Degree in Pastor Counseling from Interdenominational Theological Center of Atlanta and a Doctoral Degree in Christian Education from Oral Roberts University, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Dr. Peoples was retired minister in the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with about 40 years of service as an itinerant pastor in eight states, including Alaska. Dr. Peoples served as Presiding Elder of one of the largest districts in the C.M.E. Connection.
He was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
He was a retired educator having taught Mathematics courses in the public schools of Gadsden County. He owned and operated Peoples Tax Consultants, Inc. which was well known with clients in many states. He was a court qualified expert on Disciplines of the CME Church. He authored, lectured, and trained on the “Church and the IRS.”
He was a community activist, popular spiritual and civic speaker renowned for his short stories and short sermons.
Dr. Peoples is survived by two sons: Demetron (Aprel) of Memphis, Tennessee, and Depence Peoples Davis (Barbara) of West Memphis, Arkansas; grandchildren: Autumn Michelle Peoples, Anson Lee Peoples, Vakemeyus Davis and Yakemeia Bates; siblings: Marva Davis Jones (Matthew), Lillian McGriff, Gregory Kenon (Charlene), Freddie Peoples, David Peoples (Gail), Verester Zeigler (Elyon) and Daisy Peoples. He was predeceased by brothers, David Charles, Anthony Wayne Kenon, Joseph Drayton (Cynthia), Barry Peoples and DeHaria Peoples. He has many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and friends, including Calvin Robinson, Aaronetta Frison, Maurine Knight, Martha Harris, Emanuel Sapp, and Titus Fain.
In his final days loving care was provided to him by his nephews, Rodamir Robinson and Jatavius Moate.
