Wayne Alexander Ross, age 61, a beloved resident of Quincy, FL, peacefully departed this life on Thursday, February 8, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at his home in Quincy, FL, following a courageous battle with illness. Born on January 17, 1963, to the late Hilton "Buster" Ross and Lillie M. Hartsfield Ross Young of Quincy, FL, Wayne was a cherished member of his community.
A proud native of Quincy, FL, Wayne received his education in the public schools of Gadsden County. From a young age, he embraced his faith in Christ, later rededicating his life to the Lord and becoming a dedicated member and custodian at St. Hebron AME Church until his health declined.
Wayne found immense joy in manual work, taking pleasure in attending to lawns, nurturing flowers, and undertaking various handyman tasks. He expressed his artistic talents through line art, string art designs, and painting. His passion for creativity extended to his cherished hobby of collecting frogs and riding his bike when his health permitted.
A committed member of the Sons of Allen, Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Hilton "Buster" Ross, his brother Hilton Jerome Ross, and stepfather, Rev. Morris F. Young. He is survived by his loving mother, Lillie Mae Hartsfield Ross Young; daughter Keyonna Green; granddaughter Sha’NiyaGreen; sister Marilyn Ross Smith (Levi) of Cocoa; half-sister Cindy Ross Stovall of Springfield, MA; brothers Marcus Maurice and Curtis Odester Ross of Quincy, FL; stepbrother Kenneth Young of Orlando, FL (Lettie); stepsisters Sharon McGhee and Agnes Green of Quincy, FL, and Betty Dancy of Miami, FL; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
